News Release
Len Wood's INDIAN
TERRITORY Opens Western Fine Art Gallery
Laguna Beach, CA - Len Wood’s Indian Territory
Inc., a local landmark since 1969 within Laguna’s art community, has
announced the opening of a second gallery, “Len Wood’s Indian Territory
Inc., South Gallery, Western Fine Art” at Bluebird Centre located on
the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Bluebird Canyon. The new gallery
will feature historic and contemporary Native American and Western fine
art with an emphasis on original paintings and sculptures as well as
limited edition bronzes.
Gallery founder Len Wood looks to the new gallery as
a way to complete the collector’s picture. "For nearly four decades we
have shared our passion of American Indian antiquities. American Indian
art and artifacts and Western Fine Art are often collected and viewed
together. That is why we see the South gallery as a natural extension for
us."
Gallery Director and Wood's son, Matt Wood, is very
enthusiastic about the artists he already has showing at the new gallery.
"In addition to exceptional paintings by world-renowned artists such as
Dan Namingha, Helen Hardin and Gordon Snidow, I am very excited by a
number of our other artists including Bill Gallen, Richard Iams, Lisa
Danielle and Susan Kliewer. Each uniquely presents their own
interpretation of a very traditional subject matter.”
Gallen is a Plein Air Impressionist known for
his bold, fresh Southwest landscapes with striking red-rock colorations
throughout his works. Iams, a master of American Realism paintings,
specializes in dramatic Grand Canyon landscapes often of large scale.
Danielle’s representational style often depicts Indian and western
artifacts with photo-realism, creating timeless masterpieces. Beadwork,
blankets, ancient pottery, worn saddles and boots are favorite themes of
Danielle’s work. Kliewer’s bronze sculpture works of Cowboys, Indians and
Western life have brought her widespread national acclaim, her sensitivity
developed through living among the Navajo.
In addition to the original
paintings, sculptures and limited edition bronzes, the South Gallery
will also display selected artifacts rotated from the North Gallery’s
extensive collection at 305 North Coast Hwy.
For those who cannot visit the galleries in person,
all of the artworks and artifacts are online at the galleries’ website,
www.indianterritory.com.
Len Wood's INDIAN TERRITORY, Inc., American Indian Art
is located at 305 North Coast Highway #D and is open Tuesday through
Saturday, 10am-5pm.
